seneca creek state park germantown, maryland located on private lands and on the back edge of seneca creek state park, schaeffer farm is a popular mountain bike spot in montgomery county (probably because it's the only one...) the trails include the yellow (long loop, approx 7 miles) and the white (short loop, approx 3 miles), and maybe some other loops that spur off of either the white or yellow. the trails run through corn fields (private lands) and forest (seneca creek). sometimes it smells like cow poop, but it's an otherwise beautiful ride with some fun logpiles. the trails here dry fairly quickly, and aren't half as wet as patapsco. the other trails running through seneca creek state park don't seem to be as rugged and mountain biker oriented as schaeffer, which attracts riders from all across montgomery county. department of natural resources web site: seneca creek state park |
