Speaker Series

The Black Student Union is committed to strengthening our community and ourselves as individuals. As a result, we invite various speakers throughout the academic year to not only educate us of their experiences, but also inspire and empower us to excel in school and work to improve our community. Our dynamic guest speakers engage the academic, social, political, and economic development of UMBC students and challenge us to be better. This ensures that each student truly obtains a quality and meaningful well-rounded education which will make them engaged, analytical and productive individuals at UMBC and beyond.

Some Of Our Memorable Quotes:

We are what we repeatedly do.
Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.
