UMBC Formation and Competition Team

The UMBC formation team is comprised of 18 collegiate dancers who share a love for ballroom dance and a desire to grow better as a group and as individuals. The team is active year round, with semester try-outs and annual routines. In the past they have performed at such venues as: the Atlantic Ballroom, the Promenade Ballroom, UMBC Basketball Games, Gardel's, and other local and campus events.
The formation team is also actively competing, and this past season brought home a championship trophy from 2007 Pittsburgh Dancesport Collegiate Challenge. They plan to enter the Collegiate Ohio Star Ball and defend their title at the Pittsburgh Dancesport Collegiate Challenge in 2008.
The formation team is offered as a class which builds on the intermediate international class with more advanced figures and emphasis on technique. Team members are expected to attend all classes and practices.
This is an international team, professionally coached by Genya Bartashevich. For more info contact the team captain, Casey Daniels.
Please note:
- Prerequisite is some previous dance experience (preferably Ballroom) and permission of the instructor.
- International Intermediate class is required for all Formation Team members..
- There will also be a short, informal audition. Please stay tuned
